shes not that kind of a girl BOOGER... i couldnt help it
new indie today
1. computer camp love- datarock... this is really funny. theres a lot of lines i could and should quote right now but ill let you find them yourself. i highly recommend it.
2. language city- wolf parade... so good. swingy.
3. 1901- phoenix... this is everywhere so you know it already. its catchy.
4. PSA. everyone should buy the new decemberists cd and listen to it from start to finish. digital music does not do it justice. it is so perfect with little riffs and words that show up in each song. like an opera. theyre such a unique band. the hazards of love has become one of my favorite albums of all time. i usually only buy used cds but this was $19 well spent. its like an hour of really well written music.
5. and everyone should go buy a cd. i hate seeing places like fye and borders being the only places that still sell them and even they are going out of business. fuck itunes.

wee blanket now owns the beatles catalog. oh.
ok lots to say... michael jackson is dead, you knew that. personally i havent suffered an ounce of sadness. he belonged in jail and im not a fan of his music. pop bores me. in more important news i have a new favorite song of the moment. its called ancestors by throw me the statue. jesus its good. in other really good news ive been getting lots of free (legal) music lately from amazon.com. btw im really against the whole pirated music thing. so on amazon a bunch of indie labels like barsuk and subpop put out free samplers so i can download them! theres a page of all the free music available on amazon with like 800 songs and im addicted. i even got old jazz from the 50s. itunes sucks in comparison (or just in general). bob mould is a very cool dude. he should be played on the peak because he sounds like a peak person. he was in some famous band i cant remember and now hes bald and does solo albums that are awesome. purevolume.com has turned completely emo and is now usesless. emo is like my least favorite maybe tied with pop. again, it bores me. they all sound the same. and ive noticed that people dont really know what an emo band is and isnt. emo isnt just the slit your wrists kind of stuff its a style of music. not lyrics. and it was so funny when panic at the disco denied being an emo band. hellooooooooooo fueled by ramen? pretty major in 2000s emo, whether you dress like sgt pepper or not. ***weezers "emo" album pinkerton does not suck***

light powered!
im only saying this because it somewhat has to do with music but harpers island is crazy ass shit. i watched all the episodes online and now i understand it its pretty genius. im pretty sure the killer is jimmy because he is nice and fairly good looking. so the idea of the show is that someone dies in each episode and in the last one you find out the killer. this week the fat man died but there was the most ridiculous death music playing. it sounded like tom jones wtf. also transatlanticism was used in very weird context.
listen to gentle giant. one of the most talented bands ever. 70s prog.
what is with all the poptards sampling. its gross to my ears. main offenders: flo rida, rhianna, debarges daughter, kanye west (not one of his songs is 100% original music)
1. belated promise ring- iron and wine (new album!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
2. the steve mcqueens- the evening rig (not the one by the automatic)
3. vermillion plaza- deastro (ive featured deastro before go buy them)

blues and bluegrass
amanda has written a very spectacular blog on the reason for the santogold/santigold name change and i suggest you read it.
1. every day i appreciate the blues more and more. ive started doing this thing where i listen to blues radio before i go to sleep, and i like to think that im learning about music this way. and radio is definitely better at night than during the day.
2. magick- ryan adams and the cardinals
3. the smoothie song- nickel creek (bluegrass!)
4. oh god i love late night radio so much. nirvanaaaaaaaaa
5. i can recognize like any song within the first 5 seconds. even if its a live track with clapping at the beginning. i have an incredible memory for music. you should see me at name that tune its crazay. i even get the songs i dont like.
6. i have figured out college. i found the degree i want and where i want to get it. perfect.
7. amanda sparked a thought in my mind that a lot of songs are the same song. im working on that playlist, which will hopefully be my first full playlist in a while

lets thrash to joy division
1. i am man enough to admit that i absolutely made up the word "thrashing". maybe i thought thrashing like shredding and i translated that to the kind of dancing you would to do a crazy guitar solo and meh.
2. i have given up on green day. my latest rolling stone has a cover of billie joe standing in front of a flag and i can just tell he is thinking "my band is cool because we are in front of a flag but we hate america and im wearing a pointy hat. my drummers retarded."
3. i have two research papers due the morning after the shins concert. question. should this be submitted to fmylife.com?
4. LILITH FAIR 2010?!?!?!?!? nobody wanted it in the 90s nobody wants it now.
5. im convinced that 107.1 the peak plays lovers in japan at least 20 times a day.

santOgold
1. what is with bands avoiding new york city. it doesnt make you cool if you play 10 shows in buffualo and none in an area inhabited by people. im talking to you death cab for cutie, blink 182, no doubt, and ted leo...
2. santogold v santigold. santigold is such the stupider name and why did she need to change it now its just confusing. because santigold looks like a spelling mistake.
3. is it possible to dance to wolf like me by tv on the radio? without thrashing? comment, i need advice.
4. the delta spirit is opening for the shins! ive just started listening to them and they seem very musical, like classically trained musicians gone mainstream. here are a few songs..
5. people come on
6. gimme some motivation
7. streetwalker

2. the white stripes
3. the shins (almost)

6. NOT ida maria because she is boring
7. medicine- starfucker
8. happy up here- royksopp
not my best... ive mainly just been repeating mellon collie over and over. which btw i love how the track listing goes from 1979 to tales of a scorched earth.

would you like to the management with me? then we can buy weird sunglasses and look like real fans!...
EVERYBUDDAYS GOT ISHAS (sound it out) my ishaaa today is that i have made my super important (secret) playlist too long. everyday i add like 2 or 3 songs i think of during the day and now its a few hours too long... and i dont want to cut anything because everything fits perfectly.
iiiiwwwwwaaaaaannnnttttttoooosssseeeeebbbbbboooonnnnnnnaaaaarrrrrrooooooooooooooooo
havent really had time to discover any new stuff lately because of the playlist. i set up my dads sirius preset for the alt-indie station so sometimes he tells me his "new favorites". he came up with microphone by coconut records, which is good but it sounds like one of those songs the cw will suck into their vortex. i could definitely write a blog about the cws musical victims... my dad also found this really shitty song that was he was like YOU HAVE TO HEAR THIS. disappointing. he also pronounced MGMT as "the management"...
~hello, goodbye
OMG I JUST REALIZED HOW FUCKING STUPID THAT SOUNDS. it must go.
holy poop when did i think that shit was cute...

instrumental urban might be the whitest thing ive ever come up with...
i am a shit blogger.
1. heavy by oh no. instrumental urban. i was watching 90210 (dont judge) and this came on and i was like wow i forgot how much i love this song. i have it from some old podcast and its pretty short but really funky
2. anything by mother mother. weird eclectic band. i listen to this one podcast that has played them a few times and i like them more and more each time. actually the name of the podcast is bands under the radar #34 its two hours of awesome.
3. dear god by xtc. my dad loves them and i just realized how incredibly atheistic this track is!
i want to see the shins so fucking bad you have no idea

r.i.p.m.d.c...
i have terrible news. music.download.com no longer exists because it was bought out by last.fm WHICH SUCKS. that was one of the best ways to get new music because only the artists decided if their music got put up and it was legal and sometimes it gave free mp3s. so now it is last.fm that has no free mp3s and is a piece of shit. ooo how original a website that suggests new music for you based on what you already like...

we were promised jet packs...
this blog is sucking i never post anymore. i have one song for today...
if i was in el dorado- oakley hall- a bit country but a bit rock with the riff and 4 minute solo...
i havent listened to them yet but i think i found the best band name ever- we were promised jet packs. you know how some bands try to come up with names that are stupid so you remember them well this is the only one of those i like. i will be disappointed if theyre no good...

"summer 2009" -blink-182...
dropkick murphys were so good!!!! theyre so energetic. it was crazy. i get depressed after really good concerts because i have to go back to normal life. then i have a poopy day and then i get home and look up my next concerts. so this is what i need to see...
1. bonnaroo in june with amanda- i would cry if i had tickets to this
2. no doubt summer reunion- i never thought this would happen after the gwen solo thing (which i do like btw) so im thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis happy
3. ted leo in june- me and amanda stalk him. were like the mels.
4. blink-182 whenever it happens- i love them as much as the next child of the 90s but i have a funny feeling this is going to be a big disappointment
5. i think the raconteurs are going to be at terminal 5 in may but i could be completely wrong. i heard about this in like september. i think i should see jack white before i die i sort of love him.

dumbasses say haaaay...
ive been slacking on the posting... still working on the big playlist adding more every day. im getting into tom petty i like the country feel.
vtydvbfkldksjgfnjkdsmfnbsgh i remembered what i needed to say.
people who say they like every type of music except jazz and/or country are fucking idiots. 1- if you like rock, YOU LIKE JAZZ. youre just too stupid to know what your listening to. almost all rock and roll is based on blues and jazz. 2- country is rock with twangy guitars. and it tells a story which is sometimes nice. two words: johnny cash. one of the best artists of any genre ever.
tomorrow im seeing dropkick murphys :)

warhols booooo...
gaaaah i almost thought i couldnt log into my blog anymore!! its something weird with google accounts (which suck) scared me :O i havent blogged in a while, but i have news. i am currently working on the biggest playlist of my life, and once i have used it (i wont say what its for) i will post it here. hint its going to be about 5 hours long. i dont really have a playlist today but i have something to say...
godless by the dandy warhols was a good song for a while... until i heard the song that it was ripped off from. brian jonestown massacre put out a song called when jokers attack years earlier that is almost exactly the same. same chords, same guitar sound, similar lyrics- the dandy warhols have lost some credibility...

i think the 4th jonas wants to kill himself...
i was just thinking about the jonas brothers! weird!
first of all, yes the jonas brothers sneak attacked stevie wonder. he is a blind man and it is not kind to fool the disabled. second, jonas tirade.
they are shit (fact). example- i read the lyrics to burning up and it sounds like something an incoherent drunk wrote in a poor pickup attempt. they dont actually make sense (get up and dance, dont try and fight it/ big rob is for real and thats no lie) ?????????????
example 2- joe jonas (stupid name alert) is not hot. he is clearly gay. the other two also have some musical talent so i dont know why he is the hot one. kevin jonas is also not the so called ugly brother. hes the hottest one because he has sideburns AND a guitar.
example 3- they do not write their own music. i know thats what they say but its not true. those songs are so radio friendly its sick and no 16 year old comes up with that shit. also, they did not write "year 3000". its by a british boy band called busted but the jonas brothers get away with it because theyre not known in america.
example 4- my name is jonas always pops into my head when i think about the jonas brothers. its a good song and now i associate it with something bad...
down with jonases (joni?)

h is for haaaaaaay...
fun fact- ive listened to about 30% of the music i own. i have a compulsive cd buying habit, an extensive itunes library thanks to my dads collection, a library of almost 1000 unlistened to indie podcasts, and now im incorporating vinyl... you cant imagine how big this shit is. i have buckets of cds. not boxes buckets. so its pretty exciting when i find something new cos i already own it :) i was listening to my itunes and just left on the "h" artist section and i got 3 new songs...
1. dont want to know if you are lonely- husker du
now i really want to get into husker du. i always thought they were a pothead band for some reason but this is quite good.
2. i can see for miles- hyperhead
this off one of my dads cds. its called who covers who. it is crappish indie bands covering the who. the rest of the albums kind of apalling though. i believe the term is butcher.
3. its a shame- hymns
real indie! like 90s garage pop goes soft. i feel like ive heard it before but im pretty sure i havent...?

the grammys suck almost as much as kid rock...
GRAMMY NIGHT!!! i have a lot to say this will probably be my longest blog...
great performances.
-radiohead- they brought in a marching band which sounded surprisingly fabulous against the distorted guitar
-coldplay- lost! started out great as always and then jayz showed up... i feel like the grammys does this every year they have a group or musician playing and then some rapper comes in and ruins the song. its like saying WERE REALLY NOT RACIST HERE ILL SHOW YOU
-robert plant and allison krauss- i did not know they were that good.
-bb king and the other ones- bo diddley tribute. it was nice to hear some actual guitar playing.
-paul mccartney- they let dave grohl play too!
people whos performances sucked and need to go fall down a dark hole.
-kid rock- who the hell buys a kid rock album. how does he make money.
-whatever that thing was with the 4 rappers- mia is pregnant and she was supposed to have her baby tonight. let the girl sing more than one line.
-the jonas brothers and stevie wonder- the jonas brothers looked fucking rediculous making faces and dancing and shouting things like SING IT STEVIE and that poor man could not even see what was going on.
-katy perry- that song will not die.
awards.
1. coldplay won a few things but they really deserved album of the year. i dont think anyone in the world disliked that album.
2. why do the grammys nominate albums/songs that arent from this year?
3. in rainbows won something!
4. jason mraz looked very pretty tonight but he was a big loser :(
and on the happiest note of all...
BLINK 182 HAS REUNITED. AND THEY WILL ACTUALLY PLAY TOGETHER!!!!!!!

i almost forgot to write hello goodbye then i noticed and typed it in :/ ...
im sick bleeeeh one new song and one old one...
1. animal party- the king khan and bbq show
new song, same riff through the whole song, a bit of spoken word wierdness, irrelevant sound bytes, all together cool.
2. valerie- the zutons
older song, indie but could be on the radio, like lenny kravitz guitars/the feeling vocals, not thaaat good, 7 out of 10.
~hello, goodbye

when i grow up i want a husband to make indie music with...
i have 2 new indie songs...
1. nice fox- the rosebuds
the rosebuds are a married couple and i must say theyre pretty cute. i saw a photo essay on them in an indie magazine and it was so beautiful. i kept one picture of them under a tree in the dark staring blankly. good song.
2. light powered- deastro
this is a really funky instrumental that sounds like it could have been made on garageband. like riff after riff after riff. i can tell it will be used in a car commercial within a month.

we never lost control...
tonight i realized that i havent listened to my favorite song in a while. i know ive said that i couldnt possibly make a playlist of my favorite songs because i would forget so many of them. but i do have one absolute favorite song that i wouldnt mind listening to on repeat for the rest of my life.
it is the man who sold the world (unplugged) by nirvana.
first of all i names my blog after it, it has to be good. its beautiful and sad and musically great and catchy at the same time. it was written by david bowie and, originally, quite shitty. like cheezy bowie robot voice 80s shitness. the nirvana version is much more melodic and emotional.
for example (my favorite lines)...
he said i was his friend
which came as a surprise
i spoke into his eyes
i thought you died alone
a long long time ago
this song is about losing yourself and being ziggy stardust. i would not like to experience either.
~hello, goodbye

i was born to be your 4th member...
I LISTENED TO ANIMAL COLLECTIVE. dissapointing. that new song my girl is just weird. i wouldnt bother with them.
FLEET FOXES ON SNL. vat ze fuck. barely anyone has heard of them but its not like the show will get them some big break. and this is the same show that considered ashley simpson a "musical act"- not exactly indie cred.
I AM JOINING THE BAND SLEATER KINNEY. call me. i can play tambourine...
1. my perfect cousin- the undertones
2. seven days a week- the sounds
3. obstacle 1- interpol
4. gates of steel- devo
